Stricture resection and end-to-end anastomosis

STRICTURE RESECTION AND END-TO-END ANASTOMOSIS

Stricture resection and anastomosis of the ends is understood to be the perineal exposure and complete resection of the stricture with subsequent anastomosis of the urethral ends..

This procedure is limited by the stricture length as well as its localization.1 Application of this procedure is recommended only for short-stretch strictures of 1-2 cm.2

However, anastomosis is only possible when the suture is free of tension, otherwise there is a risk of suture dehiscence, recurrence, and penile shortening as well as curvature.3
